Review Fo 2002 Model Year Roadrunner by Sun Valley Trailer/rv

Topic: Lord's day Valley (Road Runner, X-Treme Low-cal) Owners?
Posted By: IrishCampers on 05/14/05 08:46pm Is anyone aware of a forum for Sun Valley owners?

We but purchased a Sun Valley Route Runner 210 (2003 model). We'd exist interested in hearing from other owners on common wear points or problem spots for these models. The overall quality seems fine (or nosotros would not take bought it), only I figured nix's perfect and there may be some common items to watch out for with this brand.

Thank you.

Posted By: kenair on 05/20/05 01:21pm I purchased a 2002 RR180 this by winter.
I promise to have it out this weeekend.
The unit of measurement was a rental and was priced low,and fit my budget. I mainly campsite at r/c model aeroplane wing-ins so I did not want to spend too much, plus I need a lightweight to tow with my Safari van.

All the systems are working - refrigerator, water, furnace, a/c and so that is great.

There were a few odds and ends to fix and improve.
The dinette berth seat was broken loose, I reinforced this expanse with metal angles at all the corners. The berth construction was 1x2 and then a petty actress wood helped out besides.

The upper closet floor was sagging and I added some forest framing to reinforce this area.

I'll see at the terminate of summer, how things go.
Best of luck for the summer.
cheers - ken

The local dealer sells quite a few of the Sun Valley products, They take made meaning improvements in their products in the terminal 2 years, but with that being said they are a entry level production. They are a entry level product that the manufacturer is willing to stand backside. I take non herd of whatsoever warranty complaints and local dealer said they rarely deny a warranty claim, and piece of work with their dealers to maintain customer satisfaction.

Posted By: IrishCampers on 05/22/05 08:57pm I gave our "new to us" 2003 the in one case over and it seems pretty solid. Per kenair'south comments, I think that one of my dinette seats could use some metal bending brackets for reinforcement. A tightened a few other screws, but everything else looks fine.

Now, I merely have to prep for our maiden voyage.

P.S. Although I don't think this is a Dominicus Valley issue per se, the mini blinds are lousy. I plan to replace with curtains.

Posted Past: kenair on 05/23/05 06:04pm Nosotros went out for a night the past Sun - the first in the RR180 - everything went well, all the systems worked fine.
The bottom pall rod on the front window at the queen bed volition have to go and I hit my noggin on the bottom rod bracket.
I have to come up with a solution for the mini blinds coverig the window at the head of the bed, each time I turned over I striking the mini blind with my head and made a clank - clank noise.
It was also a change to utilize the toilet and shut the door, the space is tight.

These are small things, everything else is fine so far. The Safari seem to tow just fine, information technology'southward pretty flat around here in Winnipeg.

I also built a rang cover to provide more than counter space.

We returned from a 3 day 2 nite camping trip in the Sun Vally Route Runner 180. Everything worked fine. At this campsite in kenora, on, it was full hookup whcih was nice. The shower and toilet are cramped but information technology beats walking to the can at 4 in the morning time.
I used a pocket-size cube ceramic electric heater to go on the temp around 64F thru the night.

It rained all Sabbatum night and most of Sun, no leaks - hurray

Sunday morning, due to the rain, we had 4 adults and one 12 year quondam in the trailer for breaksfast to go out of the rain, it was cozy, not cramped, so far so adept.

Posted By: IrishCampers on 06/12/05 04:07pm Our maiden voyage was a success and we idea the trailer worked well. Any bug were of our own making (details for the curious). [emoticon]

I liked the range embrace in one of the previous posts. How did you lot make it?

Posted By: kenair on 06/12/05 06:32pm Skillful to hear your maiden trip went well -
Range cover - I used 1/2" fir plywood for the pinnacle and sides. Made the inside dimensions of the cover only slighly larger than the outside dimensions of the range, that way it does not take room to slide around, the depth is about 1/2 higher than the height of the range, so information technology rests on it'southward sides rather than on the range burner covers. Painted with white latex.

I also added a 110V plug next to my range hood, the plug is wired with 14 judge extension string wire, at the end of the extension cord I put on a male plug, then this new outlet plugs into the 110V outlet that is inside the cupboard on the ceiling, saved me have to open the wall / ceiling to get at the 100 hard wire.
the coffee sits on the range cover and plugs into the new outlet.
thanks - ken

Posted By: lazydays on 08/31/05 12:15am This is our first full flavor using our Roadrunner and so far everything has worked fine. Just got back from the Smokey's with no issues. This may be an entry level trailer just the build quality is very good. We looked at many trailers earlier buying this one and the quality was a good as whatsoever other brand trailer out in that location.

Posted By: IrishCampers on 08/xxx/05 08:52pm New modification -- We took down the metallic mini-blinds from the bunk bed windows and replaced with defunction (made by DW with subconscious talents). It eliminated abrasive rattling. Our trailer was used, so the blinds were already a little bent and difficult to use. The defunction make much more than sense.

Nosotros did this before taking our offset weeklong trip in the camper. Everything seemed to go well. I need to check with the dealer as the fridge doesn't seem to want to work on propane nor was I successful in lighting the hot water tank. It didn't matter as we had electric and access to the campground showers, but I need to figure those items out.
